A Landis Valley Red Hot Victorian Tea & Tour
Year Round
Enjoy a guided tour of Landis Valley Museum’s living history Pennsylvania Dutch Village. Step back to Victorian times as you walk through this authentic crossroads-style village with farms, gardens and several historic homes and taverns, including the Landis Brothers’ Victorian Mansion, the original home of the museum’s founders. Then enjoy a Victorian Tea in the 1856 Historic Hotel & Tavern featuring homemade tea sandwiches, scones with lemon curd and puff pastries with Devonshire cream filling.
“Through the Garden Gate”
Available May – September with 15 or more people
Stroll through 18th and 19th century gardens featuring flowers, herbs and vegetables. These Pennsylvania Dutch gardens are a labor of love, painstakingly maintained with agricultural programs based on authentic 1700’s and 1800’s practices. We have a volunteer garden staff of 200. Learn about local garden folklore, historic gardening techniques, and the heirloom seed project. Sample an herbal-baked delight in the village tavern and wash it down with meadow tea. A horse-drawn wagon ride will carry you down the dirt roads to discover the many different gardens hidden among the historic buildings. Optional: Enjoy a delightful lunch in our lovely 1856 historic Landis Valley House Hotel.
A Red Hot “Harvest Days” at Landis Valley – A Penn Dutch Living History Village
October 11 & 12th, 2008; 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Enjoy a special time with your friends and celebrate Pennsylvania German traditional fall harvest events. One of the largest Harvest Festivals in the Country! Ninety demonstrators make the village come to life, food and historic craft demonstrations including, open-hearth cooking, apple butter making, Fraktur, bobbin lace making, caning, pottery, shoemaking, blacksmithing, candle making, spinning & weaving, quilting, and much more! Watch ice cream being made and then sample it, enjoy Ephrata Cloister’s warm apple dumpling or warm mulled cider and fresh, hot popcorn. All of our Ladies will be honored with a special treat!

A Red Hot Traditional Holiday Tour with “Days of the Belsnickel”
Available Tuesdays – Saturdays November 11- December 18, 2008 for groups of 20 or more
See and learn 19th and early 20th century Pa. Dutch Christmas practices, legends and folklore, while touring our holiday decorated historic village and buildings. Then dine on a traditional Pa. Dutch Holiday meal in our 1856 Historic Landis Valley House Hotel. A famous Pa. Dutch Christmas character, "der Belsnickel" will entertain you with a vignette. Each of our Red Hat Ladies will receive a special gift from the Belsnickel!
A Red Hot “Country Christmas” at Landis Valley Pa. Dutch Village
Dec. 5-7th, Dec. 12-14th, and Dec. 26-28th, 2008
Come warm your spirit with our Country Christmas Village and experience Pennsylvania German contributions to Christmas with their traditions and folklore. Enjoy warm cider and freshly baked cookies, holiday-decorated trees, and the Belsnickel – the folk character that evolved into our modern version of Santa Claus. Leave plenty of time for shopping at the Weathervane Museum Store, one of Lancaster’s finest, for the perfect holiday gift. There will be a special gift just for you!
